This image is a response to one of my prompts in The Art of Kindness course. It’s a process I enjoy as it reminds me what wisdom there is in creativity, what comes through when the controlling linear left brain is not in the driving seat.

The invitation is to make a collage without much planning or overthinking, to have in mind the word ‘kindness’ and to arrange images however you wish. When you are finished, sit back, breathe deep and let your image have a message for you.

This is what I wrote: “Find your kind light, listen deep and speak softly. It shines in spite of the pain.”  Sometimes it takes effort to be compassionate, especially if we are angry or exhausted, that’s when we need kindness more than ever.

I woke to hear that the embodiment of compassion, the great man and teacher Thich Nhat Hahn died. Here is a beautiful quote from him.

“Though we all have fear and the seeds of anger within us, we must learn not to water those seeds and instead nourish our positive qualities – those of compassion, understanding, and loving kindness.”  Nhat Hanh
