I had a bit of a disappointing week and took myself into the garden.
This is new for me (gardening, not disappointment) and I don’t have much of a clue.
I found my approach to gardening similar to creativity. Just begin it and find your way. Imagine what you want to see and then teach yourself whatever you need to learn to get there.
I was clearing some dark dead twigs when I spotted a bright bonny yellow. This turned out to be a crocus, bravely holding its head up through the debris. I went on to discover more, all a bit weedy and starved of light. Now they have their own sunlight.
This felt like a mini miracle and metaphor for my week. Sometimes you just need to keep wading through the chaff to find a bright beauty that’s been waiting for your care.
