Beginnings are a precarious business, there are no guarantees that your new venture, business, relationship, art project or tomato plant will thrive, or even survive.
New seedlings are at risk from things you can control, like forgetting to water, but so many factors are random – freak frosts, evil slugs, etc.
So too with a new project, you can research all you like but there are things you will discover only after you begin.
This takes courage. It’s likely that any unresolved, unhelpful ways of speaking to yourself will make themselves known. Things like “who do you think you are?” “This could never work, why try?” “Everyone is going to be judging you”. If left unheeded, these negative self-perceptions can act like weedkiller to your seedlings.
Take time, reflect and be extra gentle with yourself, tend and nurture your fledgling ideas and projects. They are delicate in the early stages, but one thing is for sure, if you don’t begin, it won’t happen.
Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now. – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
